URGENT - advice needed - My mates freshly imported Integrea impounded by Police!

My mate was stopped earlier today for having no seatbelt on, but this was/is the least of his worries!

They went on to explain his car was registered as a honda motorcycle, and that it might be stolen (it IS a fresh import from WRC Sales only bought last week!).

The car is registered to his name and address correctly, but the registration to a Honda Motorcycle (Assumably because its a fresh import).

They then proceeded to explain they were taking it from in (impounding it!) and that if it doesn't check out he'll never see it again! Simple as that...

Anyone got idea what he can do?? They took it today and explained it won't be examinded until Monday at least... But that they'd let him off with the seatbelt fine! (how nice! )

Its there job to register the car, and to do it right.

Unlucky though, especially with xmas around the corner.

Still shocking that they can do this, and to be "decent" offer you a lift to the train station

I'm appalled, i'd hate that to happen to me, i think the police are getting far to much power, only takes a night of TV (street crime UK and similar) to see how heavy handed they can be for little reason. Sometimes it is deserved of course, but a lot of Police officers abuse what power they have, in my opinion.

WRC should be liable for this , or it is DVLA cock up.. i cant think why it should be a problem for your mate , unless WRC deniy they sold it to him.

They should be, but its inconvenient, he's no car to get to work in now, and he was stranded up in Glasgow

Understandable mistake speaking from my own cars being registered wrong to due to DVLA messing up.

Iv had a word with WRC and they said they will get it rectified when the Buyer contacts them.

very sad news for your mate,but i would think the police were laying it on thicker than reality,its bin a mistake and as a fresh import its obviously not stolen,id guess it wont be done ina week or so but he should get his car back for a 'misunderstanding' between wrc and dvla,...bet its a rare mistake that commenly happens when registering cars??

ive heard more than enough storys about them, and ive been there myself,and i know what the some of the cars are like, this just sounds like somthing they wouldnt really care about sorting out, hence my comment

Hopefully it'll be quick mate, i really feel for him He waited so long to get it, and really took his time picking it out! Hope its all ok when he does get it back.

i had one my import cars registered as Ford Escort... no biggie, just contacted DVLA and sorted it out, DVLA mistake not seller mistake... this is the not the first time i heard such things...
