Water Pump Problem

I recently fitted a new engine to my car and it's had a few test start ups over the past few weeks. After i thought i had everything sorted, i was jacking up the front passenger side and then suddenly a small cup full of coolant came out from the pump area. When the engine runs it doesn't leak but when you stop the engine you get this small discharge of coolant, as if it's just the coolant in the pump. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

p.s from what i've read i'm thinking the gasket, so theres no point fitting the water pump from the old engine? Also the engine was sitting for around 5 years before it was fitted, so it could have just corroded.

Its up to you, i never let garages do any work on my car! If you havnt already you may as well stick a new cambelt on it too.

is the 4EFTE water pump same as 4EFE or 2E or maybe 4AFE.
I'm considering replacing it and I can only get parts for one of these engines around here.

depends if you want the one with or without the pulley? 1e,2e,3e,4e and 5e will fit if you want the one with removable pulley. fixed pulley will only be some 4e and 5e. 4afe doesnt fit.

I'm not sure which one I have I'll check today, but If I'd like to change the whole bump would it matter if it was either removable or fixed?? wouldn't they both work??

Yes, but you would need the pulley to use the removable pulley type pump as it doesn't come with one.
