well my gt is up for sale and the reason is i need to free up some money.

so im going to have £1-1500 (2k max) to spend on a car

needs to be

-reliable
-cheapish to run
-comfortable on long drives

so far i have a (very) short list, consisting of 1 car...

-98 honda civic vti (1.8vtec)

i would consider most cars so please let me know if theres anything else to consider.

thanks for any info/input

you could pick up a 106 gti for around that price, quite comfy, but prob would be higher mileage at that budget

been told they break down alot, smaller than a gt aswell, tbh i dont like them.

im not goin for power / money, goin for good car / money ratio

ha ha, thats the dilema. theres still a lot to be said for a totally standard gt. use your self control man!

civics arent comfy on a drive believe me lol. i had the coupe vti, drove it to london and wanted to chop my ass cheeks off from the pins and needles lol. what about a diesel of some sort? how big a car are you looking for also? could pick up a nice bmw or something for around that budget or similiar

well peugeot hdi's are good. iv never had a problem with them and we do quite alot of work to them and iv just inherited a 406 x-reg today with one so ill be running that at some point. what about an e36 saloon or coupe. 1.8 140bhp or such. if i were to buy one it would have top be at least a 2.0 6 cyl job as im not keen on the 4 cyl bmw's but thats me lol also the saloon 2.5tds is a good engine 6 cylinder also. any particular make you want to steer clear of ie fiat, citroen and renault which i would lol

the makes to avoid you mentioned is what im doing unless given good reason to otherwise.

i dont want anything more than a 1.8 as im hoping to average the same amount of juice or little higher than the gt tho if they average the same or little higher its fine as the reason im doin it is to free cash

i like the idea of a teggy but i think they would be more than 2k to buy.

ryan-yeh unfortunatly i have no choice, your right bought sainsburys lol.

im needing something cheapish but quickish to run round in while i pay off debts,im also moving out of my uncles so need cash for a flat....so got to be a super saver and saving is one thing i cant do!

kool choice, love r32's and theres plenty gtst's on pistonheads
