just a quick one, am i right in saying the sensor in the exhaust system just after the turbo on a 1994 starlet gt is a temp sensor not a o2 sensor?
cheers

sensor...

1. i had swapped my 4efte to 4efe. from the old 4efte manifold, there was a sensor that located on the cat. what sensor is that?

2. after i swapped to 4efe, i still using the old exhaust but as i noticed the mechanic did not install the sensor back because of the cat has been removed and he made a simple pipe joint from the manifold to the exhaust. will it effect my engine? the performance? my fuel consumption? air mixture?? or, there will be nothing wrong leaving the sensor just like that?

so far the car runs ok. but i feel the fuel consumption is quiet high. and when i switch the aircond my rpm will increase from 900 to 1100rpm. can anybody explain it to me? thanks...

The sensor before the cat will be the Lambda (O2) sensor, the one after it is the temp sensor. I'm not sure about driving the 4E-FE without the Lambda sensor, but it's certainly possible on the 4E-FTE. ;)

thank you monkfish for the quick explain. i asked my friends about this and i had get few answers. one of them suggested to redo my exhaust manifold since mine was not properly installed. any idea guys? should i go for it?

Post some pics of your current setep.

i though a cat temp sensor would of had to be two wires, maybe im wrong! maybe its twin core!

Not necessarily, the sensor could be using the cat itself as earth (As the Lambda does)

engine rpm will go up slightly when air conditioning compressor clutch cuts in, this is normal for most cars.if it doesnt increase engine rpm car would probably stall due to load from compressor when it cuts in. so if you are using air cond all the time mpg will go down.

dont know starlets setups well enough to comment on leaving exhaust sensor disconnected, normal cars have 3/4 wires for o2 sensors, these would confuss emissions, give running problems etc on those cars if were left disconnected.
