What is the valve on the tappet cover??

OK, you know the one just on top of the tappet cover with the pipe running to the intake body, I would post a pic, but that means stealing the batteries outta the xbox controllers for the camera XD...

its the pcv valve.

it shattered when i pulled it out, are there any ill effects to putting a breather cap there and blocking the port into the intake?

will be fine mate, some people change to that setup on more powerful starlets. just make sure none of the plastic bits get into the top of the engine.

Awesome, I have to pull the head off anyway to do a head gasket, have the dreaded bubbling and overheating symptoms that go along with it (the head gasket being blown), but it looks like its between the cylinder and water channel rather than an oil gallery, as there is no cross contamination of the oil and water.

Asides from that, know of any cheap ebay alloy radiators???
