What paint do you use under the bonnet?

guys, ive seen on numerous thread before when people paint things such as gearbox, head, inlet mani, etc. its a sort of silver colour.

im curious too know what paint it is. hammerite? normal paint out a can what? please tell me lol i would like too get some of my bits under bonnet looking a bit tidier. :p

you want some rep. show me some answers lol ;)

I used two pack paint on things like wishbones, hubs, axle etc. things like gearbox, rocker cover you can use the same. Powder coating will have a much harder finish and last longer, but will cost more. Hammerite can be used yes, alot of the boys over on Ford RS site have used this on there underbody before undersealing. But the key to a good paint job, like any is the prep !

You can get the colours mixed up in two pack rattle cans at any motor factors or paint shops, but they will have a shelf life of about 48 hours. Satin black is a good colour to go on the gearbox or lightning silver for the rocker cover.

i used simoniz high temp spray paint for everything under the bonnet and it hasnt flaked at all yet if ever..

corofin, what is the colour you used? my local motor factor has that simonz high temp stuff. curuios on the colour of your head/inlet etc. not the blue :)

i have used everything in the past bar household paint and i can tell you that if you want a forever perfect job id powder coat,,,but it can take the joy and the satisfaction of doing it yourself out of it,,the only real sense of achievement is a lighter wallet...

Simoniz stuff is good as well as the two pack but as already said the key is prep,prep and more prep....

Make sure and put up a few pics when doing it...:)

ohh choosing a colour is a big decision...lol.what colour do you have at the moment or do you have any??

i have soft hands lol. i like too moisturise ha, erm well i haven got any thing as of yet, if you check me members garage ull see the under bonnet colour theme. but want too get inlet cleaned up an painted, the give the head an block a de grease an a paint at some point an when gear box is out do the same with that. just too tidy things up abit :)
