what would make a fun trackcar??

Aaron, a Mini with a redtop would cost enough.
The Vauxhall lump would be good fun, but would lose the mini handling, with the engine being to heavy.

205 Gti is the way forward for cheap trackdays.

Use the VXR as a track car :p I agree with 205 GTi, cracking track cars.

After owning one, a 205 gti with a gti-6 engine. Use the 1.6 8v box, fit an lsd and spend the remaining 3k on Bilstein suspension, gti-6 brakes, polybushes, 309 front and rear track, cams and a re-map. Then proceed to destroy alot of cars on the track.

Mk1 mr2 with a 3sgte put in. Go to 2 Brutal.com.
Leave all of the above standing and demolish them in the corners.

Citroen Xsara VTS.

I shit you not. Massively underated car. 2.0l 16v, reasonable pokey as a stock car, goes around corners like it's on rails. Self leveling/damping suspension FTW!

I would get a eunos roadster (MX5) and put a soarer v8 in it with twin turbo lol don't know if that would handle well though lol :homer:

Assuming the engine fits, it would struggle to put the power down and would just understeer everywhere. A better route would be to supercharge the original 1.8. Knocks on the door of 200bhp and hardly effects the handling. ;)

Yeah that would be a better alternative and it would have no lag thanks to the supercharger some guy in nz put a v8 engine in an mx5 but it was a bit too heavy can't remember what v8 it was mx5's are good track day cars imo the rwd setup is well balanced

Quoted for the truth. I had one of these for a few months and it was awesome. I had the optional full leather interior and the pearlescent paint too :) was 5 eyars old when I bought it (with no tax and a years MOT), 100,000 miles with FCSH and it was awesome. Plus I picked it up for £2100 :p

Also, the passive rear wheel steering is worth a mention :) - The car did handle like it was on racks. 2.0L 16V 170bhp :)

Besides the gear linkage continually falling off (LOL) it was great :D

The Vtec engine is a heavy bugger, 150kg's wet. Far to heavy for the Mini.
It isnt exactly cheap to do either(if doing it right) and buying one isnt cheap either!

My money on the 205 with 309 running gear, or the 2ltr Nova.
Both cheap as chips, and easy to get bits for.

2.2 Vtec would be a push to get into a Mini.
It costs alot more than £600 to do it right.

The weight above is a B16, which is the smallest of the B-Series engines.
They only get heavier, after that.

my 1.6 eunos roadster ;)

buy it!!!!!

you dont need massive power to have fun on the track. a well sorted 100bhp car will be more fun and teach you more than a ropey old nova with 200bhp
