Just put the driveshafts back in and tightened the nut as far as it will go, but theres movement on the hub????
Just thinking if i have missed somthing when tightening the hub nut? i.e is it the nut only then the cover then the split pin? should there be a washer behing the nut?

Any ideas lads, was hoping to get it rolling today.

Cheers

Since when was there a washer behind the hub nut?

You might need new bearings mate, that would cause movement in the hub.

when i removed my driveshaft i accidently knocked out the washer or cup of from behind the hub which cause movement. i soo realised this and knocked this back in with a hammer and its fine

Getting a bit lost with it now:-( it seems to me there must be somthing missing? Bearings shot? i would guess not---all was fine when the driveshafts came off

Both nuts are really tight!!!!!!!(Both hubs) looking at em it looks like they have gone well onto the thread, well beyond the split pin hole, just as though there should be a thick washer behind the nut??

Cheers

Did it just come off easily or did you have to hit it?

Does the end of the Shaft have the little split ring on it?

i didnt take the driveshafts off. so not sure. split ring? could give me the part number of it. on the diagram? thanks

Did someone else do it for you?

If it took some abuse to seperate it from the hub then there is a chance it could damage the bearings.

looks like the split ring could be 43511.

Im sure someone who knows a bit more will give you a deffinant answer

There is no washer, I'm sure one of the 3 starlets I have owned would of had the washer on if it was fitted from factory.

If you did not do it yourself sounds like the bearings may have been damaged in removal as Sean above has mentioned.

re

still stuck.what im getting is if i hold onto the driveshaft.there is 1-2mm of play in and out.which relates to the wheel having play in it.
woudnt of thought that relates to a wheel beaings been out???
to be honest both wheel bearings were fine before it came off road.

Imagine a driveshaft thats a couple of mm to short and thats the affect:-(

The best things to do is take it apart again, make sure the end of the shaft has the split ring.
