It was love at first sight for my and my little EP85 so I'd like her to stay where I put her!

I am after some advice on choosing an alarm please :)

I'd like it to be a cheap as poss - as I blew my budget on the car

The EP85 doesn't have central locking so if I could incorporate this into the alarm that would be great.

I'm in South Wales if this helps :)

if it doesnt already have central locking then you would need a central locking kit which costs a bit more as you need solenoids and another control box etc.

most alarms nowadays are ok. something like a 'toad' alarm seem to be good value for money.

i have a lazerline on one car and a cheapo autowatch alarm on the other. both seem to work fine and have never had any problems with either so far.

like alot of things, get someone reputable to fit it. if a cowboy fits it they you could end up with an alarm thats more hassle than its worth

Avoid mobile fitters on ebay would be my advice! I've just had an autowatch system fitted to mine and I can't fault it. It has a built in turbo timer too, which means I can leave the timer counting down, arm the alarm and walk away which is a bonus. AFAIK autowatch is a south african company, those boys should know a thing or 2 about car security! lol

Dont agree, SafeNSound on ebay has to be one of the most reliable fitters i've used, top guy too cant fault him at all.

I must have had a bad experience then. I bought a toad system for a guy (can't remember the company name, just that he was based in dudley). He turned up with a hornet system, not a toad saying that he'd had trouble with the toads. I basically said well, your here and I need an alarm, fit it. 18 months down the line my battery kept going flat. I took it to an auto electrician and the alarm was drawing too much power when armed and raping my battery. I emailed the guy i got the alarm from and he basically told me it was impossible for the alarm to do that and the electricians were full of shit. Now don't get me wrong but I think I'd go on the word of someone thats actually looked at the car and dnoe some tests. So I asked the guy if i could buy a new control unit from him then as the warrenty had ran out and he didn't reply. Like I said maybe just a bad experience but if I was you I'd still try and find someone local that you can actually go and see if you do have problems. Its far too easy for someone to ignore you by email, not so easy if your stood infront of them!
