Thanks a lot guys. I might stay clear from the Exedy for now as my mate also puts me off. But this stage 4 seems really good - how much did you pay for yours churcherj?

well i got mine off a mate for £150 :) but that was bargain hunting lol, best place is ECC i think, not sure on their current prices, maybe around the £300 mark? but i would definately recommend it! grips soo hard its quality, also rated to alot higher torque than the likes of CAP and some other cheaper paddle clutches.

have a read of this:

Think its £335/£345 to England mate. I paid £345 for one to Republic of Ireland off ECC bout month or so ago either way.

I'm running a Exedy paddle clutch no problems at all, good in traffic and it has taken two track days now without slipping

Nice one chaps - think this is the baby I'll get.

Is this the same clutch?

Looked at that aswell mate! spec is a good clutch, its not 279.99 though you gota add VAT on top and delivery, it works out to be around £340 last time i went through to the shopping cart! you can order direct from spec and it will be marginally cheaper, but then again you pay import charges etc!

if your not going for mega power go for a CAP paddle clutch, my mate runs one and its nice to drive with, you can get them for $199 which is pretty cheap! like £130 but works out nearer £200 to your door.

just another option, will easily take the torque which 220bhp will make

EDIT: the clutch you posted is a SPEC clutch, totally different brand to competition clutch, similar design but i know which clutch i would have! competition clutch all the way mate

This would be a little harsh for traffic stop and starts - trying to stay clear from paddle clutches as a mate said they can be a little nasty in traffic

Kind of contradicting yourself there really but just get the exedy from camskill as i said will handle everything you can throw at it ,good in traffic , and the cheapest you cant go wrong

the 6 puk paddles are slightly more traffic friendly than a 3 puk from driving the 2, but like you said mate its still a paddle clutch and if you want it to handle higher power, something has to be sacrificed! cant have it all in this game.

if you want it to be totally traffic friendly addz go for a helix organic clutch or a TRD. exedy organics are shite from what ive heard and brake far too easily! organic should be fine for your spec

A clutch novice here, I do appologise.

Is the ECC competition cluch paddle too? I have read on Exedy paddle on here and reading the gears become stiff to change  Also, this juddering, does it only appear when the revs are low when you move off, or does it happen when you're moving in first in traffic - or both

EDIT: thanks for clearing that up churcherj - think I will consider the 6 puk - but also don't mind the sound of the exedy paddle

Argh I hate deciding

ye its paddle mate, think they do an organic which is stage 1 or 2? paddle is where it has rivvets instead of a rounded pressure plate. you get judder when revs are low and moving off, if you rev it harder and pull away it will be smooth. on my competition paddle, you cant really balance it on the clutch on hills like a normal clutch, its sorted of go or nothing to a certain extent, if you try and balance it and move along really slow it will judder really bad! but it wont if you pull away as normal. does that make sense dude?

That makes total sense, either you use the clutch to go, or you don't.

I may pay the little extra and get the one you've got opposed to the Exedy paddle. But then again I probably wouldn't mind a Exedy paddle either with the harder bite, but my mate has pushed me away from it (never been in a car with Exedy or 6 puk competition clutch).

Thanks for the offer, but I just don't get the time - Southampton isn't the furthest of places as I'm in Surrey. Thanks for your time (and you guys too).

I had an Exedy in mine last year, far far more juddery than the 6 or even 4 Pad competition clutch, the Exedy was a nightmare in slippery conditions, such as snow, ice and erm fields (don't ask).

I see Competition clutch are doing lightweight flywheels now to go with their clutch.

Thanks a lot spuddy for you feedback - rep has been left for you.

Do you have a link for the flywheels?
