glanza v with faulty knock sensor

It will run rich and will perform poorly.

For a short period of time you can run without it, but it doesn't do things any good.

depends what the issue is. if its just replacing the sensor then half hour is plenty of time. if its a wiring issue it could take longer.
new sensors are quite expensive, but in most cases the sensor isnt the real issue. its some tool that has broken the connector.

ah right. hopefully the connector is just broke or is that worse? also the eml is coming on at around 3000 revs, will that narrow down what's exactly wrong with the knock sensor?

thanks

Ran one for around two years without a knock sensor.

It pulls back the timing to keep the engine safe so expect restricted power and poor MPG as a consequence.

The fault is cleared everytime you cycle the ignition so the first time you hit 3k rpm the ECU sees the same fault and the engine management lamp illuminates. A faulty sensor and a broken wire will bring on the same lamp so have a look from under the car. It's tucked below the inlet manifold on the back of the engine. Nice and handy.
