if you have 6-7 pints on a sat night, maybe go to the police next lunchtime(dont drive!) and get them to beathalise you. would be a good indicator for how long you need to sober up. if you dont drive all sunday 'just in case' then it kinda defeats the purpose of going out for a drink in the first place.

Thats your opinions mine is if you need to go out in your car the next day dont get drunk the night before.

I dont think anybody truely realises the amount of ppl who get banned from next day driving even 12hours after they got home from drinking etc.

Even if a kid ran out infront of your car on accident and it was their fault and you couldnt react in time your still guna get breathalised and your credibility goes out the window even if you think your sober and there's enough alcohol still lingering in your system.

Its called MAD driving (morning after drinking)

I'll stick to my procedure of get in at 3am, down as much water as humanly possible. Wake up at 10am, eat a full English + more water, watch day time TV (Something for the Weekend, or gaming TV, whatever is on really - don't think it makes a difference) til 2/3pm then drive home.

totally true, if i knew that i required my car the next morning or even early afternoon i would either not go out or barely drink but unfortunatly for me i basically have to drive into town (about 15 - 20miles with no realistic bus service) in order to go out but what i do is drive to my mates house, park the car up, go out, then not go home till at least 2/3pm the next day but usually the back of 5pm once i eventually get up and get organised lmao :p
but even when i wake up i feel totally fine but id never risk it, always get some food etc then head home after a few hours but as i said before i never get to the point where i am "drunk" (aka unable to stand) and i stop drinking before midnight and just drink water afterwards

i just said find out how long it takes for you to sober up the next day( could be lunchtime, could be teatime) then act responsibly. dont jump down my throat please.

I'm sure the OP was sincere in his efforts to avoid drink driving and I applaud him for trying to pass on his experience to others, what I really can't stand and think is deplorable is the attitude that it's all so unfair. The limit is set for a reason, the tests are accurate, the level of impairment at a given blood alcohol level is the same regardless of how much of a giant or midget you are.
There really is no getting around the fact that the test was failed, the law was broken and the relevant consequences will inevitably happen.

Free advice for the OP, there is absolutely no way (given what you've described) that you're going to 'defend' yourself successfully. You're going to be much better off acknowledging the undeniable facts of the matter, pleading guilty is going to get you some less severe punishment than trying to explain it away. Any lawyer worth a damn will tell you the same thing.

The average waiting time to clear out the alcohol is 1 HOUR per UNIT. So you just need to keep an eye on how many units you consume and rack up the hours you need to wait.

"Average" waiting time? Is this for males or females? Does it take into account height/weight, amount of food/water consumed, and a whole bunch of other variables? I think if you did want to know how long it took your body to process alcohol, you should do what ted's suggested.

think we should all get off our high horse here. how many of us drink on a saturday and drive on a sunday afternoon being honest.

the guy assumed he was under the limit. he didnt go to the pub , drink ten pints then drive home. just a little more education is needed about how many hours we need to sober up is needed, not the pc brigade weighing in.

High horse my arse mate.

I'm speaking on behalf of someone I'll never see again because of a drink drive IMO. I don't drive the next day after a booze, saying that tho I don't drink much. BUT I still wouldn't drink drive because of the risks to me and others. Even the fact that it's risking my liscense would be enough to make walk instead if get behind the wheel of my car after a night on the razz. I would at least wait till later the night after to go collect my car if I had to.
Fair enough that more thought is needed as to how many hours it takes to be sober enough is needed though. But it is also different for everyone as there are soo many factors involved for each person.
It's a public forum and I feel strongly about this topic so it's not just a case of the pc brigade weighing in it's a case of point of view.

lol. Also, I find eating a kebab helps. Especially a chicken donner with lots of mayo and chilli sauce.

Lol that works extremely well! even KFC after a night out is epic! I find doing a hanstand for a min or too usually helps aswell.

Mate! Have you ever done a KF or BK in the MIDDLE of a night out??? When making the move from pub/bar to club, stop at KF for some chickenz or a cheeky cheeseburg from BK!!
