no need to take it so seriously? He neglected to tell us what religious persuasion he is and where he originated from, perhaps he is ashamed to say. It was obviously a shithole or he wouldnt have left to find somewhere better.

Agreed completley

I wasn't replying to your post, I was replying to the post after yours, the one I quoted. I agree with you when you said that when you move to another country you should make the effort to adapt to their culture and not expect the culture of that country to adapt to yours. We should all be more accepting of the cultures of the people who move to our countries but that works both ways and the people moving here should accept ours too.

By the way, your inbox is full, was trying to mail you earlier.

No offence bud but I would prefer, as an Irish man, not to have the likes of you defending me. I can see that you have some pretty strong negative feelings towards Muslims and you are perfectly entitled to have them, I don't know your reason for having those views so i'm not going to tell you that your wrong but you should think before you speak, he never said he was a Muslim so where do you get off calling him a "rag head terrorist".

I don't have any problem with you, i'm simply suggesting that, because you have such strong feelings on the subject, you be careful what you say for fear of being branded a bigot.

^^ toilets, that abit harsh. A corner of a room would do just fine
Apparently it's got to be a place where she can't be seen by men. Only place like that is the ladies toilets. Fortunately employers are not yet legally bound to provide places and they don't even have to allow the praying if the nature of the business would suffer.

I personally think that you are just being a tad over sensitive. The way I read his statement was that him calling Gedis a rag head terrorist is exactly the same as Gedis saying all Catholics rape kids. Gedis did pretty much exactly the same thing as reeco, except apparently that way round isn't bogotted at all. Essentially both of them made huge sweeping statements about the vast minority of each others religions.

Lets not forget, however, that the Muslim religion is definately, 100%, absolutely squeaky clean and anyone who says otherwise is a massive paedo racist. I feel that is such a shame that I will not live to see the day when people look back at religion like we do at the witch hunts with pity for the poor people who suffered and even died for utter bollocks.

I completely agree.
People used to believe thunder in the sky was caused by angry gods.... they believed the sun circled the Earth.... hopefully one day common sense will prevail.

Thats cool, you are perfectly entitled to your opinion just like everyone else on here but I can tell you honestly that I was being over sensitive. In fact, I wasn't being sensitive at all. I don't have a problem with the guy, I just don't wan't him defending me, as an Irish man when he makes statements like that. Gedis made a general statement about Irish men, Reeco made a statement about Gedis personally. He just assumed he was a Muslim (just like you are) even though he never said he is a Muslim and directed a derogatory 'remark' at him without knowing if he is. The other difference is that Gedis was joking and Reeco clearly wasn't because he was reacting to what Gedis said and got really angry.

Like I said, Reeco is perfectly entitled his feelings on the matter because he may have a very valid reason to feel that way. I explained that I was only trying to give him advice, that he should maybe think before he speaks for fear of sounding like a bigot. I didn't call him a bigot and don't think that he is a bigot but others might which is why I said what I said.

I have the utmost respect for you and your opinions about religion even if I don't agree with you that its "utter bollocks". You are perfectly entitled to not believe in religion if thats what you so choose but I would hope that you would have the same respect for me and my opinions and beliefs.

Regards

William

Tell me about it man it was a thread about a name n nw it's turned into a thread about relegion.I'm a Muslim n I'm proud of it iv never been taught bad things n as far as I know Muslim religion doesn't teach you bad things.if you take things out if context then you can make anything sound bad.Muslims socialise with non Muslims just not in pubs n clubs I'm sure there's plenty of Muslims guys on here who have non Muslim friends.and in every relegion you get bad ppl but u can't judge everyone just because of some fucked up ppl

Sam, a girl that used to work with me for years met a chap and converted to islam. I have never seen a more dramatic change in a person in my life. She went from a fun loving outgoing girl to one who would not get in the lift with men or eat with any of us at lunch. It was pretty astounding to say the least.

I personally think integration is the key. When people come to a new country they should be there for the right reasons. They should be there to soak up the culture and mix with the locals, if you are not willing to integrate then you should not go to another country.

Agree 100%, but there are millions of people in Europe, who don't really care about the local laws, nor the culture, nor the language -)

I think Muhammed is the most popular name this year, and that top 10 was for the overall period for a decade for example!
Give it another 100 years and there will be a huge war between the europe and asia!

Gedis made a general statement about Irish men, Reeco made a statement about Gedis personally.
If he is talking about Irish people in general then it is personal as I am an Irish man and as far as I am concerned Gedis should be thankful that our tolerant and civilised country allowed him to enter.

The other difference is that Gedis was joking and Reeco clearly wasn't because he was reacting to what Gedis said and got really angry.
Just like he never said he was a muslim, he also never said he was joking so if you are telling the lads to stop assuming he is a muslim you should stop assuming he was joking, if he was I didnt find it very funny.

@Ash - I respect all people and you seem like a decent guy and if you say that as far as you know the muslim religion does not teach bad things that is fair enough. I would however respectfully disagree with you, it is on public record, I could direct you to lots of instances but I feel probably the most effective and upfront is this documentary shot inside one the UKs most prominent/mainstream mosques - if this is going on in the open in mainstream mosques in the UK I can only imagine what is being discussed behind closed doors.

People should take a few moments to watch this video.

I just want to clarify so I know who i am talking to?

In Christian thinking Thomas Aquinas teaches - sin is choosing the least good.
My understanding is currently the more gentle theology of the Muslims is being lost
due to a more oppressive theology dominating in some countries through poor leadership , this seems to happen from time to time to all faiths. Its good to hear the positive side too.

nice observation, I agree with. Just as christianity preaches tolerance and not to judge yet so many christians judge and seem pretty intolerant. The idea is often nice, like communism, but when you add people and their flaws, suddenly you have a problem.

@ gv1.3

I apologise if I have caused offence. I could be wrong about gedis but i'm 99.99% sure he is very good friends with popsy, mark and a few more of the cork lads on here and I have met him myself and found him to be a very nice lad so I was only going by what I know about him (which isn't much to be fair). He came across to me as being a bit of a wind up merchant which is why I thought he was only messing.

a ginger drunk knacker... if thats how you see Irish people then go and fuck off back to wherever you crawled out from. A prime reason why we should be more selective about the level of scum we let in to our country. If you socialise with your nationals so much then feel free to go back home and socialise with them there.

As for religion, I have my own negative views on it, I am not a Catholic I am an Atheist. And if you judge a religion as being "way better" because leaders do not rape children then you obviously have thought about this matter in great detail.

ah get over your self, cant take a joke about your greatest country?
i have irish wife, we have a child(irish also), and i'm ginger as for religion i dont believe any of it my self
