Mazda RX-8, opinions?

well i love my starlet and not going to get rid of it, but just wondered what people thought of these cars? they are really cheap to get, like a 54 plate, 40,000k full leather heated seats for 4k? whats the score with that? i know they arnt great on fuel 26mpg and use oil alot, and are in a high tax bracket £400 a year or summin, but they look lovely and are quite nippy!

id rather a starlet Gt turbo tbh!

I'd rather have the rx7 than the 8 both nice cars but sorry to say rotary engines are crap and need a rebuild around 60k and can cost £££££££

ye i know they need rebuilds alot, but they just seem so cheap for what they are! probably need to rag the tits of it to get the performance though

cant believe how much they have depreciated though, 3500k for an 06 plate on autotrader with low miles! obviously the low price reflects either how shit they are, or the fact that nobody wants them!

Alan_d from jap imports 4 u(Trevor's trading post on here) has one of these mate he could give you a first hand idea of what too expect. hope this helps mate

alot of people say the engines go bang alot, an there not cheap atall too replace. just mod the starlet dude!

u see thats the thing mate, ive spent alot on the starlet already and they just arnt returning the money, seems the starlets are becoming harder and harder to sell :( cheaper to buy a fully forged one with all the mods done these days

dont sell, keep it for ever an enjoy it. an the money you put in too it lol trips too the ring are on the cards mate

They dont need rebuilds every 60k that's all bullshit....... If serviced properly like a car should be it should last just as long as a piston engine! You just have to give them a good hard thrash every now and then to keep the rotor housings clean!! As the main fault of engine failure on them is carbon build up on the rotor housing which then destroys the rotor tips!!

that was the original plan but you know how it is, something else takes your fancy, i know for a fact i wont be keeping it if i can get my hands on either an evo8 or a supra :)

Well done for you well educated comment! You don't have to thrash it all the time....... Just every now and then, not only that the engine was designed to be revved as that's how you keep it clean! If you don't no anything about the engine or car keep your stupid coments to your self! I'm give the lad some advise as I actually own an rx7 and now a little about what should be done to keep them healthy where as you obviously no fuck all and just want to be a dick about it

WTF? Dude lighten up I wasn't taking the piss out of you, I like thrashing cars every now and then and if thrashing an rx8 doesn't do it any harm then nice one. Maybe ask Santa for a sense of humour this year?

If you buy one the first mod you need to buy is a petrol station not very fast either lovely looking cars though great handling I would'nt mind having one love the prodrive model.
