98 spec bumper on a 97?

just needing to so something? i want a 98 spec bumper on my 97... i phoned toyota and the boy at toyota said i need the brackets bolts and clips and also the bar behind it? is this true or could i just get away by buying the bumper and just straight fit on with original parts from my old bumper? sorry if this a freaquantly asked question but need to know guys? cheers

No they're not if you want it to fit properly.

You will require the bumper brackets which attach to the crash bar and you will also need the 98 grill, the foglights are also different but the 96/97 ones can be made to fit the 98/99 bumper but don't look as good. All other clips and the bar are the same.
