Advice on preparing for spraying

Hi, im wanting to respray my side skirts and front bumper, i am aware how to spray but i am not sure on the preping side of it.

what is the best way to remove the original paint?
what grit wet and dry paper should i use to smooth it off?
anything else i should know?

scotch brite it all, or wet & dry sandpaper, then a couple of layers of primer, sandpapering it between layers, then use pre-paint to remove any grease, dirty etc...

Oh and take your time. Best way of painting from what i've done is too use a little and build up

thanks guys, what grit should i use for smooting the surface and what grit should i use for sanding in between primer coats?
