all maps will be on safe side on a rolling road eric as cannot load car as would do on the road...
but then u would like a safe map not too safe where u loose power, but not say making unsafe for an extra ten horses.
im lucky my mapper is 2 min from me with his own dyno, so when he aint tweaking his 106 he squeeze me in.lol

your going to hear good and bad things about everything in life so u will with mappers matey, so go with one who can give you value for money

He mapped it on the road after. When i say safe he had the fueling spot on 11.8 without it detting but brought it down to around 11.5s if i can remember thos figures correctly.

From what I know two bar is really good with toyotas look on mr2 forums they love him my mates due to have a 600hp mr2 mapped by him soon. That's true there's no way to simulate real world load but the dyno dynamics is dam good at trying to or a superflow like sumo power is good. The fans are the biggest let down at most dyno's as they can't compete with the airflow you get on the road.

Correcto, 2 bar mapped mine on the rollers to spot on 11.8s and when out on the road and was going into the mid 12s. thanks god it wasnt detting. This is where road mapping is much better and ryan2 bar can offer this.

yh atspeed matey, and my afr's are 11.8 still not detting, so there is room, its down to your tuner.
the best way is dyno dynamics rr to be mapped, then tweaked on the road just after.

Remember lads, dett is not just down to the AFR, its predominately ignition, but both AFR and IGN plays a part.

very true rory, but i spose in safe people usually are eferring to fuelling.
but like you say engine with to higher igntion is another cause of detanation.

Det is down to ignition mainly Jay as the fuelling isn't where the power is that's in the fuelling that's why I run a knock detector as det can kill an engine quickly I'd advise anyone to listen thru det cans for the sound of det.

AFR tuning originally quoted me £90 to map my EMB running a td04, so ye does seem abit pricey, but he probably takes more time to fine tune it, and that does include road tweaking to set it up and a rolling road aswell. and in my opinion its worth paying the extra to get a good map on there

£90 to map your ecu ? i very doubt it. You proberly mean £90 per hour + VAT. Which is what i got quoted./

excuse me? i think i know what i was quoted! yes they do charge £90 per hour, matt advised me it would take an hour tops to map my car so thats £90!? like i said i dont think they spend enough time mapping personally, an hour to map a car seems stupidly quick, but ive had no experience with other tuners to compare it too. in the end it took them around 45 minutes, so not very long at all, thats why i wouldnt go back there. attention to detail is a must if your mapping

EDIT: just a heads up mark at ma developments only maps Vipec/Autronic/Motec, i emailed him earlier!

whoah thats why i was shocked when you said £90 to map your ecu. But i agreed with you saying that i was also quoted £90 per hour + vat...

so would you say afr did a good job in 45mins ? i.e did you get the power you was after, afr ratios etc. ?

well, in the end they mapped mine for free as they messed me about soo much and i had to go up there twice and i live 2 hours away!

it was luke who mapped mine, i think hes like matts apprentice or something! the fueling was spot on, however they only mapped mine to 0.9 bar as it was detting. this is due to the timing being advanced and i didnt realise, however he didnt make any attempt to rectify the issue and get the car to what i wanted he just left it how it was and gave me a print out. it did make 218bhp which is decent considering the boost, but i put this down too the advanced timing my car is running for some reason! anyhow i called back to let him know the timing was advanced and to reset it back to stock levels and go back for a tweak of the map and raise the boost, but they never called me back despite 3 phone calls. ive decided im now going to another mapper near me to get the boost raised and tune it for some other mods ive got lined up! they were nice to offer a free map, however i felt like they rushed it and didnt try to get the car how i wanted it because they knew they wernt making money. lesson learned dont take a free map and pay someone to do it, money is key!
