Ok, was planing on taking the damn thing off. But now i see the heat is coming back, and don't want to sweat like a pig in summer sitting in my car. So i want to re gas the aircon.
Cos our cars is old version for gasing. How can i get it sorted? i heard you have to change the valve ...

Yes u are corect you need to buy a conversion kit to change from the deadly r12 to the more friendly r134a. This kit includes two differant sized valves and neutralisind liquid to put into the system. If u just add the new gas with out the liquid they will mix and corrode andy rubber seals and leak. Also donnot get caught venting the old gas into the atmosphere..... you can get find £10,000 to £20,000 for polution as its very deadly. Its a form of mustrd gas used back in the wars lol.Take it to a garrage and tell them and they will sort it for you.
I baught the kit for about £50. regased but later on too my ari con off lol.but i was nice and cold at least.
hope this helps

Does this also fill it up as well? or is that separate?
If i take it to any local garage, will they do it for me or will they ask for some parts need changing

Thanks

How about you try it first and let us know hehe
I want to know too. Easy and the cheapest way to re-gas for our old GTs.

Ok, no it doesnt fill it up its mearly an adapter kit because of the differant size heads on the new type. Yeah that is the same kit as i used.
Get that kit and take it to any garage that do A/c re gasing and ask them to evacuate the system and replace with the oil from the kit and the new gas.
Hope this helps guys

No its onsmall bttle of pag oil. if the two gasses mix together it will eat your air con inside out. R12 is the old stuff and if u donnot evacuate all the gas out or just put in the new R134a bye bye aircon system. This oil neutralises the old R12 gas so its non reactive with the new R134a.
The kits come with a bottle oil and two connectors as the new aircon machines and systems have different sized conectors.

Seriously take it to a garage that deals with a/c. The job will get done to a much better standard plus they clean it out properly. I've been told about £70 to have it done.

Will they clean it out right and refill it with correct gas?

yeah timmy is correct. take it to a garrage and tell them it has the old R12 system. They may charge you for the addapter kit as it remains on the car or if u provide it yourself for them its cheaper. They will fill it with the new gas as its totally allegal to use R12 or to vent it to the atmosphere anymore.
