an youe remove an abs ring and fit it to a joint without one?

as above, need a v joint and an only get hold to one without an abs ring so i was wondering if i an remove the abs ring from y old joint and fit it to the new one?

na from ec, they an get me the right joint but they can only get me one with no abs ring.can anyone confirm this?
