Hey, Im looking for some info on Audi a4s the 1.9 tdi versions . iv been looking for a diesel car for daily driving with some comfort, and keep the glanza for weekends, iv been doing research and am hearing nothing but complaints about these cars, after 60k miles they start giving all sorts of trouble, gearbox, electrics, etc. just wondering if anybody has one or can shed any light on this?

I ran a 53 plate 1.9 TDI A4 Avant, was very impressed. That had done 80k and was no trouble. Used to get 50-60mpg, with it mapped to 160bhp ish.

Iv also had the newer 2.0 TDi engine in both 140 and 170 bhp form, the 170bhp has proved the biggest nightmare!

In terms of reliability i presume? i hear repair costs are usually very high also.

we have a audi a4 1.9 tdi, on a s reg, its done 217000 miles, been chipped. and never had a problem with it, still drives like brand new, i mean obv your gonna get the usual wear a tear but i have had no fault with are's

all i ever seem to hear about is electrical problems on newer VAG cars. would like an audi, but that really does put me off. seems like most of them are driving about with an engine light on for some reason or another.

Yeah that seems to be their biggest issue, i think ill just bite the bullet and see how it goes.
