auto to manual

so my car is a 4speed automatic and planing to do a auto to manual conversion..
the thing is I can only find 4speed manual.. actually wanted me a 5 speed
my question is whats the difference between the 4 and 5 speed? expect that one has a extra gear.

and do i need to change my ecu? should I find a manual tr. ecu or can the matic one still work..?

Is it the C140 gearbox? The 4th gear is shorter than the 5th gear of a 5 speed so will reach top speed quicker and won't go to the same speed.
The ratio's other than that are pretty similer.

You can find a C52 gearbox from a MR2 (1986-1989), Toyota Corolla, Toyota Corolla levin as well as a starlet.

I'm sure you don't need to change the ECU as I believe they are the same. The Auto radiator has an oil cooler built in for the gearbox which won't be needed on the manual, but you can still use it for the manual I would expect.
