Will it be right for all of us as taxpayers to ultimately pay to keep them in relative warmth, with free food, free clothes, free tv, etc etc..................
Whilst all the law abiding pensioners who have worked hard have to suffer the indignity of not having all those things as a right?

Well done Sam for dodging the bandwagon.
The death of baby P is a monstrous tragedy - our most basic, carnal instinct is to reproduce, straight after that to look after our offspring and see them to adulthood as best as possible, and this is why it chills us so deeply that someone could fail their own offspring so horribly. We can only hope that the mother did as she did due to pressure she couldn't cope with at such a young age chipping away at her sanity. the boyfriend is obviously the sort of savage that follows the instinct of 'kill other man's baby so she has yours' and should thus never be let near civil society again.
This petition, however, is aimed at people who have chosen a punishing and stressful career path in the interest of others. They have to deal with a lot of cases, in most of which the child is not in mortal danger. Sadly there is always the possibility one will slip through the net, and those who were involved in the case will have a lifetime of regret and horror to deal with, on top of the day to day stresses of their job. These traumas wil make them more aware and better able to do their jobs in the future (like any skill, you can't put a price on experience), robbing them of their livelihoods now would not only be very cruel but would leave the children that still need their care and attention all the more vulnerable.
This pole was set up with one goal - selling more copies of the sun. The sun being, of course, the turgid right wing rag of a shameless media mogul, designed to manipulate its readership into thinking it is some kind of moral crusader.
I am sure the demands of this pole would be detrimental to vulnerable children.
