well i've done a 955bhp 3sgte in the past. was doing low 10's on the strip but was capable of 9's because we kept snapping shafts all the time
had to keep babing it off the line.
that car was bloody quick but on the road it was useless, it was tuned for pure power at topend ie a drag setup at 5000rpm it was making 78bhp but by 6000rpm 690bhp then just kept climbing to 9500rpm. unless you got on a straight a 300bhp car would eat it alive and it was so unreliable.
think there is alot to be said for a good alrounder car, i think the perfect power for a glanza is 200-250bhp tops anyway for handling etc. the blitz k1 is capable of over 200bhp, heard 230at the wheels before so thats near the 250max i said. So taking the turbo for that power the 5e would just bring it all in quicker making more torque.
i for one would be very intersted to see a small hybrid on a larger capacity engine, and not build for pure power but low/mid range responce and spool.
i've got a 5e engine here but begrudging building it as my glanza is my everyday car and don't want to get drawn into big numbers from it. but i also have a jam manfiold and K1 turbocharger so curiosity wants me to put them together and coupled with a short run ARC intercooler and methanol injection i think would make the ultimate responce starlet. just mixed minds weather or not the arc will fit under the bonnet with a 5e or not.
lightweight crank and flywheel is good if your in a rev happy enviroment, but if you like to cruise or sit at a constant speed like 30 - 40 motorway etc then you don't want to go to light as the momentum stored in those heavier parts really effects how the car performs and feels. i've got a fidanza on mine and it made a slight difference but nothing to really write home about but it made a bigger negative effect on the motorway cruising, engine works harder, is louder and i would imagine that would effect MPG as well.
