Boost Problems

Guys, i got a bit of a problem. My starbo is boosting fine in 1st and 2nd gear. when exceeding approx. 5k revs on 3rd it's over boosting like crazy. i have an hks actuator, and thought that it could be the problem itself, but changed the actuator to the standard one and it's still the same problem. Could the wastegate be f*cked? It's a standard turbo btw! 10x a lot!

Have u had it mapped ? Maby ecu ? Unplugg the battery leave for 30 mins and try it again will reset the ecu and wastegate are u talkin internall if u have an actuator ?

it's a standard ecu,set up only with fcd and fpr. and yes the wastegate is internal.

usual suspect: wastegate

overboost trouble usually means your WG is knackered.. in the shut position.. or some of the vac plumbing is a mess, not allowing the WG to open. with the actuator arm off, does the WG 'widget' (for lack of a better term -- the arm that links the actual wastegate to the actuator arm) feel normal.. or does it clunk around like there is nothing there on the other end..? this would be the simplest test..

Sounds like a typical case of boost creep.
