Brake lights problem

One of the mates was following me tonight and he seen my brake lights wernt coming on when i was braking. Took the car straight home to check it out. When i pump the pedal the lights only come on the odd time like for every 3 times i press the pedal the brake lights would only come on once. Anyone have a clue to whats wrong?

I think there's a switch on the pedal mechanism, have a look there - might be faulty or broken.

yeah noticed the switch on the top of the pedal mechanism last nite when i had a look. Will give it a spray with wd40 later an see if that sorts it
