Camber Query

Guys,

Ive got an awful clunk on one side - now I would take the suspension off and swap sides to see if its the same on the other side (Defective Shock) but before I mess up the camber I want to see what you guys think of the following..

Now the clunk is on one side, and also, the steering in ONE direction is a little "light" .. I think that this clonk is somehow knocking my camber our over the course of 6 months (Havent curbed the car once) ..

The knock is everytime i hit a dip in the road, not a pothole but say a slight dip or raise in the road..

What could be knocking the camber off from the force? - Could the lower arm bar be at fault..

Im just trying to find out before I drag my sorry arse to a Suspension "Specialst"..

Thanks for any input.

Ollie :) .. p.s. happy new year!

Actually strangely enough mine started having the same problem this week, i'm sticking it on the lift in the coming days to see if i can find out what the story is with it.

i have this little "knock" as well fella. nothing wrong with the D2's, they are all good. my camber is spot on,as well as the tracking. i think it might be the anti roll bar or something, maybe engine mounts? Just a thought. also is it the left side (nearside)?

Yo dude, the knocking is on the offside of the car - Yerp the D2's are fine, I even had it changed and the knocking continued so Its not that - My thaught were the anti roll bar, but when i checked that all looked well - Lower arm bar maybe..

I dont want to take it to a garage to pay £50 for someone to look over it!!

Unfortunatly i think my camber maybe out .. I will get it checked! Tracking is fine tho .. This misterious knock is getting on my tits now and I need it gone!

Let us know franza if you find anything!!

Omfg i have this problem aswell! it sounds like its under the car, i thought it was my flexi on my exhaust but i put it up on ramps and it was fine. it makes this fugding noise everytime i pull away as well! very annoyying need it gone!

I thought it was maybe the engine mount on the gearbox but they are all fine i think it probably is the lower arm bar or anti roll bar, thing is tho the car drives perfectly fine

Sorry for going on mate :p

Any of you guys have the Whiteline Anti-Lift kits fitted? I found the ARB to be touching the bottom arm on mine, might be the same for yours.

Also, the clunk could be caused by the spring re-seating itself. Mine used to do it all the time when turning. I took the whole unit off (I have D2's also), compressed the spring and applied some white grease to the top of the springs and the seat it rests on. I did the same to the lower end of the spring and the clunking stopped.

Yesterday night i was out and asked a couple of mechanic friends to gander a listen at it and it sounds more like its underneath the car near my exhaust. I have also lost a lot of back pressure when you feel at the back box so something might be loose :( Im hoping so, then i can just tighten some bolts and be done with it.

EDIT: I also stopped the clunking on my D2's by giving them a clean and grease now the dont make a sound :)

Monkfish, No kits or anything fitted, as far as suspension goes, D2's and thats it..

The clunk is not the spring reseating itself, ive heard that thats more of small klunk, this is like a "metal on metal" bang .. quite loud, might see if i can get a recording somtime lol ..

All the spings have been greased and checked/cleaned and that makes teh "pings" as the spring coils and recoils go away - but not the bang!! :(

I think Franza's D-Bushes and the front ARB will sort the problem, well i hope so as thats what ive got coming up on the shoppins list!

Sorted it yesterday, turned out to be a Top mount bolt had come loose the one that holds the damper onto the top mount itself.. I fitted the Front ARB as well. but it wasn't the root cause.
