car wont start, frozen??

Right! I went out to my car yesterday morning before work at about 7am (so was still about -3 out there) went to start my car and nothing happened all i heard was a little click (not to sure where from) when i went to crank it, nothing else happened at all (all the electrics and battery work fine etc). I tried 2 more times then left it as didnt want to cause any damage as i just assumed it was all frozen (had a quick check under my bonet but couldnt see anything frozen, but i was freezing my nuts off so i only had a quick check :p )

Now im just paranoid that it might not be just "frozen". It does have anti freeze in which was put in about 2 months ago and i toped it up just before xmas which just water (a little amount) so the anti freeze mixture should still be alright. And where my car is parked no sun gets to it untill after lunch time so its properrrrr cold lol :(. Not to sure what it could be...

Any help would be appreciated and repped etc, and if nothing made sense just ask... thanks :D

check battery terminals are clean and tight
i think this is your problem matey not a good enough connection or low/flat battery your radio will work fine etc but the starter takes alot of juice to crank the engine over

-3 :haha: Its -18 today, im just away to fire the gt up since i managed to clear the 2 foot of snow off it.
I would have thought if you gave the rad pipes a squeeze you would feel if they were frozen? But i doubt the water would be frozen at that temp if you put antifreeze in it. Goosed battery? You tried jumping it?

sounds like your battery. Just enough power for electrics but not enough for a start.

Get a jump, then get a new battery, should be fine. I have had this problem on lots of cars.

-3 is cold down here in london lol, we cant handle any snow! :D

rad hoses wernt frozen up at all, and i didnt see battery terminals frozen/dirty or what ever but i will take them off and give them a clean tomorrow then if that dont work il jump it!

ahh i hate this weather lol

my batterys shit, and when its nearly flat and i try and start it all i get is a click, sounds to me like u need some juice!

this happened to me the other day on my van, thought wtf as i had changed the battery 3days before but it was my alternator was froze i threw a few jugs of warm water round everything in the bay left for about 5mins and away she went.

i had the exact same problem 2 years ago.. turned out it was the battery at first, one of the poles had corroded so badly that it literally fell off..
when battery was fixed, the starter motor did not fully engage..
solution: get a hammer and bang a bit on the starter motor, to let it engage properly.. as far as i know (and was told), the starter motor is pushed against the flywheel, and contacts will only provide current when it is fully engaged.. thus if its stuck before its engaged fully, it wont crank :)
just dont beat it too hard (lol)

Yeah ive heard that too, hope it is just the battery and not the starter motor.. dont fancy staying out in the snow all day tomorrow sorting it out :( lol

All sorted now cheers for the help!

Just a quick question.. can the cold/freezing weather damage the battery/battery terminals/what ever or would it be more likey my battery was just on its way out and its a coincidence(sp?) that we got the freezing weather the same time?
