Custom exhaust manifold

Just trying to get all the parts together before I start.

Just a quick question before I start - I bought the below manifold gasket and took that to the machine shop so they could cut it out of 13mm steel, my Q is - does it matter that the stock manifold is a different shape?

Im just wondering if the stock manifold is the shape it is to miss something on the head?

just checking :)

I can only think of: It needs space so that it can be easily be removed by not struggling to loosen bolts.
And be careful of the oil filter.
And remember to strap the manifold while in fabrication :)

Thanks Skalabala, my mani flange will be identical to that gasket but 13mm thick.

Just marked up some 10mm plate for the CT9 flange. Ive got the measurements if anyone needs them :)

Cheers

no just smal as possible for weight reduction and restrickt flow ( i probly mis understood the question ) you dont knead to be in the oem position but if you go away from that then bottom exhaust extension will be kneaded and oil feed/return adjustment

Just a bit of an update :)

SO.............I did have the angle right :)

My collectors are cut and cleaned with a file and look pretty good

At this point theres no rush in getting everything together. Just as long as its right :)

I will be boring a hole in the side for a external wastegate. But here it is before I weld it

heres a stupid angle shot

Colin - the magic angle is 15 degrees :)

looks really tight, nice work :)

theres a book called "Maximum-Boost-Designing,-Testing-and-Installing-Turbocharged-Systems by Corky-Bell" I found it a great read , very in depth and explains most of the theory behind it all.
