i dont understand why a car has to be destroyed because of its owner??

I suppose its a very visual message like what they do in some parts of the US if you are caught street racing... they crush your car... people on here are getting upset looking at it... imagine how you would feel if you actually owned it - I think its effective.

If the police confiscate something like that, it is not allowed to be sold. As an antiques man, when they have knife amnesties I have seen some very valuable swords and knives that have been handed in to the police and the police have to destroy them. Have seen it on guns too. Somerone hands in a colt revolver and its worth a couple of grand but it must be destroyed. Its terrible, but true.

How would you feel knowing your in a drug dealers car would you think it would be a safe car to have. Lets say a rival drug dealer saw your car or better still the owner gets out of prision how would that make you feel. I really think everyone is looking into this way to much.

Its a car it got shot up for your entertainment boo hoo. What about all the cars that are wrecked in the Fast and the Furious and the likes same thing at the end of the day.

im not talking about the fact that it got destroyed on top gear, just that it would have been crushed otherwise, and that they do it all the time, its just money the taxman could use.

i knew it was going to get totalled as soon as i saw it was a Y reg.. i don't reckon it was true about being a dealers car tho. why would the police seize it then give it to top gear to use, surely the point of having it crushed is that nobody can use it lol? probs just made the story up so they got a decent excuse to destroy it (like they do to most stuff on there) and to avoid countless people writing in complaining about wasting license fees! semi-ok entertainment still

after watching the repeat this evening i have to say it was another top episode by the boys, as for the heated topic of the destroyed car....... here's my 2p's worth

If it was actually a drug dealers car then imho they had every right to shoot it up, regardless of what car it was it sent a very effective message to the undesireable criminal/drug community. If you get caught then anything you have gained through the sale of drugs is destroyed, you get nothing other than a nice stretch in one of her majestys holiday camps.

lets face it lads at the end of the day no matter what they destroy on top gear someone is going to complain, anyone rememeber when they destroyed that crappy old morris marina and were flooded with complaints from the owners club!!!

Its all done in the good name of televisual entertainment for the likes of us youbook and facetube users, if we felt so strongly about it then you wouldnt watch the programme again out of principal as it had offended you, anyone here NOT going to watch it again because they destroyed an evo ???? i know i for one will be tuning in next week with baited breath to see what shenanigans they get up to.
