Engine problems not mine but a friends help a brother out

hey people this on behalf of my mate.

hes just rebuilt his engine on his glanza forged build in the back garden lol. brand new piston rods headgasket etc.

starts runs good, but on motorway 60mph + the revs are going all over the place and its backfiring?? this driving it easy or hard. engine light is coming.

timing out?
electrical fault?

Do a diagnostic test if the eml light is coming on. Will throw up a code, post the code and someone will tell you how to fix the problem.

so emu light is on but you do a code check and nothing is appearing ? does the light constantly flash when you do the diagnostic check?
