FFS!!!!! Stripped a thread on a cam cap

just fitting the cams back in the gt tonight and managed to strip a thread on a cam cap. manged to pull out a nice springy bit of alloy.

now, can this be helicoiled or is this head (and maybe the car..... ) fit for scrap?

i've helicoiled an exhaust stud in the head already without any problems
not sure if it can be done for the cams as there is a need to keep the caps fitting exact/flush

We're you using a torque wrench?

You should be ok to hrlicoil it. Just take your time and don't over tighten it and it should be fine.

no, was just winding it in, went to nip it up and it suddenly went slack!! done it loads of times before, but must of picked up on a thread and fucked it. well pissed off. i only had the sump to re-seal and it would of been running again.
