i have 96 glanza and in the mornings i start the car and drive it, there is a rattle from the engine but when the car heats up the rattle stops...could it be coming from the turbo.. Theres no rattle out of the car when started its only when the revs get to about 2000rpm..the noise goes away after about 2 minutes of driving, i just hope its nothing major..Thanks

is it a ticking kinda noise or a proper rattle??

can u pinpoint where abouts the noise is coming from??

its a rattle, its sounds like its coming from behind the radiator/under heatshield but it goes as soon as the car heats up..i bought the car like that but i didnt know until i left the car overnight and started it the next day...
Someone on midnight club said he's 99% its a big end bearing but my car makes no noise while ticking over but if so what can happen if it doesnt get fixed, how much to fix...
Others have said parts gone in turbo...
One of the screws on the heatshield in broken off but i dont think its that causing the rattle cause why would it stop when the car heats up...
iv been driving for about 3 months now and there no change since the day i got it...

Also

i have the car on hi turbo should i be able to get 3 green lights to light up cause i can only ever get 2..

renove your heatshield and inspect for any cracks in the manifold or any crackes in the head aroyn the manifold bolts going into the head.

as for lights.. they should all light up.

no there doesnt seem to be any cracks..

I get all sorts of rattles from mine, Lower arm bar hitting the exhaust, heatsheild on the cat is loose, aircon pip ei havent got around to removing yet...

Could be your Cam's not tensioned properly if its coming from higher up, Or heatsheilds or even the exhaust bracket (Mine worked loose just after the cat and was rattling like a good'un)

mine started to do this after i changed the grade of engine oil i was using... starts as turbo is just starting to spool n goes away after 10mins basically after its warmed up n has been boosting lightly after those 10mins to circulate a bit more oil round it.. not getting any smoke of any kind so im not too worried about it and the noise goes after i lift off or change gear so i'm sure its the turbo on mine... could this be a posibility on yours????

iv just listened again and it sounds more like one of the belts, it sounds like when 1 of the belts gets wet and it starts squicking when reving

if you rev the car lightly (say 1/4 throttle) does the rattle come and go? Does it sound more like a cracking noise or a vibrating rattle? You can hear big end noises on youtube. You should check them out cos its a very distinctive noise. Best of luck i hope its not big end

If you have a manual then if the engine has not been modified in High Boost the FULL BOOST doesn't kick in in 1st gear or even in first and 2nd gear, but will be definitely on the higher gears! On the AUTO you get full boost in any gears without any mods!

If you have only 2 lights then you only run in low boost! (115 bhp)
