pop the caliper off completely,

see does the wheel then rotate freely....

push it in and out to feel for play in the bearing and listen for any unusual noises,

will do - I'm thinking it could be locked brake anyway, amongst other things, it's the only disc that's not got a flat surface

well I can confirm it's the caliper - removed it and the wheel turns as per normal. Caliper piston itself is all grungy and the piston is sticking out, even though the handbrake isn't on:

For now I've bodge-fixed it my removing the anti-squeal shims on the pads, but I'll obviously need to rebuild the caliper and change the fluid while I'm at it. Now, how much do the rebuild kits cost, and how do I dismantle the caliper (tools required etc), thankies so far people

she looks pretty shitty indeed sir!

Is that brake fluid or grease i see in the pics?

Take the boot off and try lubing up the piston with some spray lubricant, and high temp grease, then apply the handbrake, wind it in, apply the handbrake, wind it in..... to try and get it moving first.....

with the boot off, you can see if the piston is pitted etc, and judge overall condition etc, before you go to the trouble of rebuilding....

It may just be clogged with shit that can be removed.......

that'd be WD40 you see there...I hope

bah, I'll do that all in the morning - i'll need to buy the tool for winding in the piston as well, I don't think I have anything I could use in it's place...here's hoping for good news though...
