GT glow badge dissasembly?

Finally bit the bullet and am going to try and refurb mine as it's looking a bit ropey.

I have ordered one of those stickers from australia and I have taken the panel off the car, got the glow badge bit out and removed the bulbs etc.

Is it a simple oven job to separate the clear front or is there another method that works better? It's really fragile so I want to be careful with it.

Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks

The plastic can be very brittle!

Is is just glued in? Is it a single piece of plastic or a couple of sections?

There's two perspex lenses, one is the outer clear bit with the GT on it and that inner one that snapped in two on me. Both are glued in and even with a bit of heat the levering didn't go well. I'd maybe opt for a stanley blade rather than the screwdriver next time

The plastic main housing looks to get brittle over the years.

ah ok, so i should be less likely to cause damage as im only removing the front bit with the GT on. no need to remove the inner section.
one of the fixing tabs was broken on mine. i have superglued it back on and it seems to be holding pretty strong. it is very fragile overall though, hence my reluctance to go too mad with it!!!!

You can indeed get them. i have one. in the preperation to make it possible to use the oem Perspex outer lens with it, mine is painted and this damaged. These can be found on the "toyota starlet australia facebook group"
Expect to pay 160$ Aud, with a decent wait time
