Harness bar

Anyone without a cage running just a harness bar behind the front seats? Maybe fixed to where the front seatbelts would bolt? I assume it would have to be a custim made thing.... anyone know if any traders have made one!?

Am sure the guys at Zisco can make one. Was thinking about it myself the other day, that or having a bar bolted/welded to the rear strut towers, but I read on the Takata website they recommend the harness being attached within a certain distance.

Yeah was Zisco I was thinking would have been most likely to have made one. Aye you see on the likes of the safety devices cages, they arent usuallu too far from the seat. Not sure if having a bar between the two belt points would hit the seat or not, id have to see how far back the seats sat.

If it was going to be as simple as a bar between the upper front seat belt points, would something in the style of a panhard rod or C-pilar brace work so it was slighty adjustable to sit hard against the car? If that makes sense? Cause would a solid bar that fitted between those two point not be a pig to try fit in?

Yeah it would depend on how far back the seat is, most likely intend for those that have a seat welded in position as an ideal situation.
A C pillar bar would be better as it has the fitting at the correct side to go through into the shell. Not sure if it would be good though as I would have thought it would have to be made out of something pretty tough. Something along the lines of T45 cold drawn steel would be best I believe.
Hmm good point, would deffo have to be adjustable to get it in and then tightened up correctly.

I had another idea in my head that I had seen in another car, turns out it was the AMS harness bar for an evo, I can't get a pic on my phone so you might have to google it! :drive:

That looks good. Where does the bottom link connect to though? I thought it would have bolted to the bottom seat belt point. Looks like it has a bracket welded to the seat rail.

It looks like it has a bracket on top of the seat rail that's bolted down with the rail. Know what your saying though, bottom seat belt point would have been my thoughts too but maybe the bar would have been at too much of an angle for whatever reason?

I would have thought if it was placed at an angle it would have the tendancy to bend and flex, where as place straight in a vertical postion it would be more rigid.
Looks good, and doesn't seem to hard to fabricate.
