if i drive its 3 miles if i walk its half a mile through the woods but if i dont drive my cars there be no point in having tax insurance or mot and in this weather il stick with the run around haha, you can not be sacked unless youve had sevaral warnings and are on your last warning, and dont be the little one and work out your pay its normally they have to pay you for a while when they lay you off!!!!!

22 mile round trip for moi
when me and my dad used to work in forestry, we would think nothing of a 200 mile daily round trip or ever working 3-400 miles away and stopping in B&Bs for the week however i was on 1.4k a week with all costs paid when i was 16 so didnt complain haha, now 21 and just over 1k a month :/ lifes going backwards ha

As a worker you do have rights. You cannot be sacked unless there is a very good reason for it. Don't accept bullshit threats from your boss.

i do put a word in some times but have to keep it quiet most of the times, at the end of the day i've mortgage, wife and kids, cant aford going back on the street

Currently around 40 each way, although heard I might getting moved to a site 90 each way; saving grace is I get travel expenses so im willing to work further away but the potential 3hour journey each way sucks lol

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. Not been on since i posted the thread.

I've always been someone that appreciates my time, and prepared to take a pay cut if it meant working closer to home, as the only positions i've seen so far are either the same or less money, but are about 45 minutes away (25 miles). Not only is the pay the same, or less, but the costs of living are going up and it's more wear and tear on the car. I currently only work 2 miles from my home you see. Someone in this thread did say that times are hard and you have to get what you can, so maybe i'll just have to accept this is the norm! It does seem like most of you have to travel some distance.
