hybrid ct9 vs td04

@ turbodave what hybrid is that mate

In house special build :), will be having a remap at 1.4 bar when I get a stronger actuator and go there to have the gas setup.

The turbo has an uprated turbine wheel/shaft and a different compressor wheel, but for reference it still uses the same inlet trumpet i.e. no cutting and welding an unnecessary large one on.

I found that a ct9 at 1 bar was very torquey at 3000rpm it would just break traction immediately at full or 3/4 throttle which was really irritating with the td04 the car is given time to get rolling before the power comes in a lot less feathering of the throttle. As turbodave says it depends on the roads you drive but also on the driver you are. I find if I need to get moving sometimes I need to change down a gear to get on boost which leaves you behind if against the ct9 but then again the roads are longer and less twisty around here and I'd catch up bloody quick. I presently only run 0.6bar and its better than I would have ever expected. I would never go back to the ct9 ever. My wife has the standard ct9 and I find it very asthmatic to drive lol. I hope she doesn't read this or she'll never let me use it again lol.
In my personal experience pound for pound the TD04 is about 50 quid to replace the Hybrid ct9 above 500quid do your math it made sense to me that if you want useable power without rebuilding the turbo get a td04.

that's is the issue there turbodave...u have a one of a kind hybrid:cool:......which is your own recipe/secret...so the others will buy a generic one from one of the traders...all of which again may be different combinations determined by each trader.......so results may vary somewhat

there is only one hybrid i would say impress the hell out of me....and the maltese guys owned it...i think it was sold a while back ...produced a 12.8sec 1/4 mile if i remember correctly:beer:

ct9 hybrids are nice turbos...AND tdo4s are nice turbos......depends on what u want from your car

speedvision, wepr, toby, dave, tongs, etc all seem to build good hybrid ct9s

and let's remember...one can also hybrid a tdo4...just like many have hybrid the ct9...so that could yeild a different outcome:haha:

i understand what you mean about useable and cheap to replace but how much did it cost you to set it all up bearing in mind it will just cost me for the turbo and remap if i go ct9 hybrid and injectors maybe?

a setup for my fuel computer is 200quid (my total cost for my parts is now 620uk pounds and then the setup) I had the car setup at 1 bar on ct9 before and I've been running 0.6bar on same setup on td04 since as I need a boost controller and a new braided oil line! if you look at my car thread I did mine on a very tight budget but since had to upgrade the radiator and repair the rear water hose on engine. waiting until after xmas and then getting boost controller and getting it setup at around 1 bar on standard internals maybe more depending on what the tuner says. but it's faster than my ct9 @ 1.2bar now!!!

Here's my Hybrid Graph. Note it's on a standard, ported manifold at the time aswell -

Seems to spool up in exactly the same fashion as Dave's - Just not make as much power.

Sorry went off line.

I run the subaru TD04L 3 bolt flange better for reduced lag in comparison to the 4 bolt flange off the mitsubishi's.

ok so a 3 bolt flange is the one to go for then, its just the manifolds are expensive really when ive already paid out for a zisco ct9 one i suppose i could sell it on though and make some money back on it

like this guy said... Believe weejohn may be able to supply these its a very simple design. using flush fit bolts to mount to the mani or turbo on a piece of metal... works well too what I've heard. There's a guy selling full kit for 360 on here not sure if its sold!. The new mani etc from wepr looks brilliant but it comes with a price tag.

ive been in nicks from tuning developments and thats td04 and thats really quick
i want to break the 200bhp barrier really as most starlet owners like to do but im not wanting to build a drag racer, reason why i am forging is my engine will have done 175kms soon an i think a hybrid might shorten the life thats left init the engine still runs perfect as it is and has just been mapped and bin running a bar of boost on the standard ct9 for a while
Which is the best compromise. Do you have the car running nice without ruining the engine. Moving up breaking the 200 hp means a lot of money and a shortened life of the engine. Are use mine as a daily and I am happy with the stock but I was thinking to upgrade to hybrid just to map it around 180/200 hp. I don’t like drag cars to drive on the streets.
