Well i've owned both.

I had a Yaris T sport, had it for two years and the only thing that went wrong was a wheel bearing, but i think that was due to me putting coilovers on and changing the camber etc.

Great relaible nippy motor, and my partner bought herself a 1.0l Yaris that shes loves to bits. Shes had that for 3 and a half years and that hasnt missed abeat.

I worked for toyota as a tech and the only problems they seemed to have is the drive shafts sometime went and on the very rare occasion some gearbox problems. But 90% of them we had in were for services.

Theres plenty of aftermarket parts for them out there aswell. Fensport, envyperformance etc all stock parts for the car.

A good site which im on is Yarisclubuk and there is always plp selling parts there aswell.

The only reason i changed was i wanted a glanza and could afford to insure one. Obvioulsy the glanza/gt are gonna be faster but the build quality and reliability will be the same.

Either one is good! Just depends what you want out of the car. You can buy supercharger kits for the Yaris but if your gonna do this, you might aswell buy a starlet turbo as you get more for your money powerwise imo.

A mate just got a Vitz RS non turbo and had it go there other night, very responsive, was well impressed with the vvti in it. Looks really nice too with its wee oem body kit hahaha there's a turbo one around my area, haven't seen it go yet but looks really nice too, they're tunedd by TRD. Didn't someone on here have a 4EFTE in a yaris?

I guess you have to relocate radiators e.t.c.
the loom is the biggest problem in transplant most of the stuff will be off..
isnt that what you get when you try to transplant a fte engine into a normal starlet?

Yaris T-Sport Vs Stock GT/Glanza. GT/Glanza will be slightly faster, but not by a huge amount.

Steff's 4E-FTE'd Yaris is a fantastic testament to will power and wallet depth. I would not wan't to be doing that project! :homer:

whats with all the car v's threads
I don't know, but the way it is going, there will be some warnings dished out fairly soon.

TGTT does NOT condone street racing in any form and topics relating to the matter will be locked and thrown in the Muppet Section. This is for your own benefit. The Police regularly browse popular car club sites and all they need is a small amount of evidence and you will be in the shit.

a freind of mine owns a yaris t sport and with regard to speed my stock gt wipes the floor with his yaris. he hit a 16.9 down the quarter and i got 15.5 (same day, same dragstrip and timing equipment etc). Its nippy dont get me wrong and a fantastic little car but nowhere near as quick as the gt.

cant comment on a comparion with the turbo vitz as ive never even seen one let alone driven one.

I assume you are on about the normal 1.7 rather than the Ford Racing Puma.

I have recently purchased an R (98) plate standard 1.7 one and it's a fantastic little car. I was pleasantly surprised by not only how well it accelerates for only 123bhp, but also how easy it is to chuck it into a corner and actually come out the other side having not crashed and/or shit my pants.

The pitch doesn't change with the variable cam timing like a VTEC does as it's more gradual and fluid. 1st is utterly pants in them though as they have a torque limiter built into them to prevent too much wheelspinning, but once you're into 2nd and about 3.5-4krpm, it's alright. Mine pulls very well through to the 6.5krpm limiter and the gearbox is simply awesome. They're useless on fuel too if you're not easy on the loud pedal. I put about £45 of UL into mine and get 220-250 miles out of it.

I'm not saying it's the best car ever, but for the price you can pick one up for £1000 for a green one) you simply can't fault the giggles/£. :D

EDIT:-

Forgot to say, problems to watch out for:
-Anti-roll bar bushes are shit. They're cheap to replace though.
-Rusty rear arches. The liners are crap and trap a lot of dirt behind them. Rusty arches is commonplace in 'moist' countries.
-Stonechips. Pretty much every Puma has them. Ford used some odd paint that isn't very resistant to chipping, meaning the front bumper and bonnet will most likely be peppered with chips. :)()

Hi FEELiT,
we are all about asking questions and sharing info on here so you are most welcome to the site and we hope you find everything you are looking for.

I have merged your last three threads together as it appears you are looking for info on lots of different cars. We like to keep all similar info together so there is no need to open three threads asking the same questions.

Also for future reference you will find members generally reluctant to discuss "versus" threads as this usually results in street racing stories which are not permitted on here.
