just picked up (new) old starlet need advice

Hi, new to the site and i am picking up a 91 gt starlet with about 210,000 klm on the clock. the car needs some work like c.v's, starter motor and a couple of small things. Should i be rebuilding the engine before any mods? How far should i go with the rebuild, providing there is no damage? I am thinking of forged rods and pistons and the other sort of stuff to make a generally reliable engine. Any and all advice is appreciated. by the way i got the car for nothing and its in fairly good condition the guy i am getting it off just wants to get rid of it.

It all comes down to money... but if its reliability you want, then get a rebuild kit from toyota, and buy some new pistons from toyota.

Re-assemble it and you have your new reliable motor to last plenty of kms/miles.

If you want to start boosting your car, well you can do it lightly and spend several thousand pounds or spend alot of money, either way the more power you make the less reliable it will be.
