K20 conversion query.

Hi all,

I've been considering swapping my 4EFE for a K20 (from ep3). It will be a new learning curve for me (even though i'm and engineer in other mechanical components).
Apart from the fabrication for the mounts, what would be needed over and above the engine/gearbox/loom. what I mean is, do I require fitting parts like the EP3 knuckle bearing hubs, suspension, wishbones, standard or hondata ecu (or keep the current 4efe), cluster, fuel lines, fuel pump etc etc. Or do I keep most things standard?

I know it's going to be a costly job, stressful, time consuming, I take all that in to consideration. I'm just seeking advice and planning ahead before I start making alterations in the warehouse to have a resting place for the starlet.

i also found this a while back...additional information for you to consider

there are some Jamaican builds around the web as well,,,just try a search ...

hopefully the various pieces put you closer to understanding what your proposed project entails---costs, parts, labour, engineering, etc

I spoke to a friend of mine this evening about my idea because he has past experience with a few builds he's done.
5 pot volvo swap in to Renault 5 gt turbo and a 700bhp civic coupe build.

He highly expressed that I shouldn't bother lol. He said go fully forged on the 4efe then turbo it. Set it at a steady 200bhp for around 8k give or take.

The idea was there anyway, just not a convenient one lol. Just find it difficult locating parts for the starlet. People go on Facebook and sell the bits because it's free and they don't get bummed by fee's but I don't have/use facebook.

i somewhat agree with your friend..its much cheaper and easier to go with a forged 4e/5e turbo with supporting mods..200/300bhp depending on what you want

however, where possible, i try to provide useful information to the actual questions asked and not to persuade members about what projects to undertake, unless they ask for opinions

Yeah I did come across the kit on there not a bad price really. Probably something I'll look in to next year now with coilovers and wheels.

Just spent an arm and a leg on glanza body parts today that I'm picking up friday (not helping pay off my debts haha) and I've got the custom exhaust being done on the 7th August.
Calling it quits after that to pay debts off and get Xmas out the way. Typically everyone's birthday lingers around Xmas so December is an expensive month for me.

I've got 2 weeks off as of next Friday, so I'm going to tinker around with the car and setup a build thread on here.
