Knocking noise on start up, help!

I have an intermittent knock/clunk when i start my car. Its not continous n theres only one knock/clunk sound then it stops if that makes sense and its not everytime i start it either, maybe once every 4-5 starts. Sounds likes its coming from the rear o/s but without having a second pair of ears outside the car its hard to tell. Any ideas?

*i realise this might not be an engine problem but as i dont know what it is i thought id just start here

It could be something loose in ur engine bay. It might be worth checking the mounts and make sure you have good tension on all of your belts,

Sounds likes its coming from the rear o/s

Possibly the exhaust knocking against the car somewhere. Get underneath and give the exhaust a good shake to see if you can replicate the noise.

Now you mention it Tex when i had my mot the bloke did say it was a bit loose. If you hadnt guessed already im not very mechanical lol
