Mx5 turbo. anyone have any experience or knowledge?

who knows what about 1600cc mx5 engines and what sort of boost etc they can take before it becomes dangerous?


looking at a little Mx5 with a greddy k26 turbo kit on it, 1600 stock engine though, so what sort of power is possible without a forged engine?

and is it a setup to be avoided or embraced?

power wise your looking at about 150bhp, boost is 5psi

We've mapped a few now Phil, awesome little engines, impressed us for sure!

We mapped one on a TD05 @ 0.55bar - made 191bhp and ran sweet as a nut.

Pretty sure the 1600s can take a bar of boost, but don't quote me on that

sounds like richy boyo is firmly in it already.

all joking aside i wouldnt miss this midlifecrisis for the world (so long as it comes turbo'd and offset to the hilt)

My MX5 runs 10psi, 230bhp using a k26. I will be taking that further, still on standard internals.

It hasn't moved in a long time, had a custom made manifold for it, new custom exhaust, big brake kit front and rear, and lots of other things fitted. Got a track day in it next week.
