no spark

hi guys, been a while since i been on here.
anyway got a bit of an issue with one of my starlets, i recently put a new engine in as the old 1 had a bent valve. problem is since we've dropped the engine in, it just wont start. ive checked the ignitor and coil and changed them from another working car and still no luck, its just got no spark. ive done a diagnostic check and this whats come up:

IGNITION SIGNAL--NO "IGF" SIGNAL TO ECU
--IGNITER/IGNITER CIRCUIT

--IGNITER AND IGNITION COIL/CIRCUIT

--ECU

so what do i look at next.

since u made a swap, and changed the ignitor unit and the coil, 2 things remain:

check your harness. get the pinouts from some sticky on this site or if you cant find it, tell me the ecu number written on top of the ecu and i just might have it. with this u could then trace the ignitor wires back to ecu to confirm continuity (with a DMM).

if this is ok (harness) then i guess the only thing that remains is the ecu! change it and see.

the igf signal comes from the ignitor unit (to go to the ecu) after it recieves the igt signal from the ecu.

ok, bit late to check the harness right now been 11pm here in nz. the numbers on the ecu are 89661-10100. i have tried changing the ecu to one from my other gt that i know works and had no luck so put the original ecu back in.

also whats a DMM?

so thats pointing to your harness. since you changed the engine you may have messed it up.

DMM = digital multi meter

ok was hoping it wasnt the harness, not my favourite thing to work with.

thanx for your help tho, i'll have a go tomorrow with a multimeter
