Just reading the thread on MLR, here is what norris said -

The cause of the crash was total brake failure on the approach to Tower, I applied the brakes three times but all that happened was the rears locked and unlocked scrubbing no speed. Becuase of this I turned the car in very very early (before the corner) to try and get the car sideways so I could scrub off some speed. It stopped an even more serious possible outcome......ie death for me!

Sadly this meant HEAVY contact with Gary (Orange car) and then the tyre wall. There was a full investigation today (after the event) and I have been praised by the clerk of the course for the way I dealt with a very nasty situation. The official cause was "mechanical failure".

Sadly this 800mile old Evo 9 RS is a total loss, needs a reshell in the minimum. I may just break the car and take some time out until the green car is fixed though. Kind of makes you realise how dangerous motorsport can be.

Cheers all

Si

p.s. The brakes had boiled fluid which had no previous signs until I applied them on the approach to this corner.

and then some guy said this -

seems to me mr norris needs to stick to sprinting and showing off at shows with his evo's before he kills either himself or someone else!

2 races out of his last 3 he's not only fxxked his own evo but has now buggered someone else's evo along with the 106 from last year!

the words 'accident waiting to happen' just about describes norris's driving.

and norris reply -

gerbilhead - I suggest you keep your bull*hit opinions to yourself as you know nothing. The video we have incar (which will be posted soon) shows me trying in vain to brake 3 times before making a decision to take to the infield in a attempt to avoid a disaster! You can eat your words when you see it........

Blair - I had the Brembo 8 pot fronts off the green SWB fitted for this race, I was using 1 race old R600+ fluid.

Thanks to everyone else for the kind words! Rest assured myself and Gary have already spoken and I will be "helping him out" with his car.

Cheers

he is crap! the last vid i saw of norris designs was a crash!! has he not learned his lesson? and who has prove it was brake failure? i think he has braked too hard for the corner and he's lost it and its thrown him off the course. if you notice at the last bit of the vid where he comes to the corner, the evo is going well too fast!!

ok fair enough maybe it was brake failure. but the first thing im going to reach for is the handbrake, and ye put it into the field which is what he did. but 2 crashes quite recently isn't a good reputation for the company

I have found this thread from a link on another car forum.

News of Norris crashing yet again is all over UK car forums, and I want to post up the general opinion and my opinion on Mr. Norris himself.

Having spent the last hour reading every page of this thread, the general take on Mr. Norris is that everyone is licking his backside, and one person says exactly what he's thinking ( and what is being said on car forums about Norris ) and he gets flamed by other users for having a opinion, and Norris threatening him is pathetic.

Albeit some of gerbil's comments are a little silly to be fair.

Ok, I have watched Simon Norris several times, and in my unqualified opinion he is without a doubt not good enough to be racing cars of such power, his driving technique is somewhat erratic and his racing lines are odd.

Now, I admire the fact that Norris is doing what all of us could probably never afford to do, but lets be real, the guy isn't good enough to be driving such a car, and because he has a solid reputation on this forum doesnt not deny anyone regardless of post count to have an opinion that differs from the pro-trend of mr norris' followers.

Lets get real here folks and have some COMMON SENSE, whenever Norris is racing other peoples lifes are at a greater risk, and were talking about a human life, which in my opinion is much more important than how mr norris is dressed up on here by his army of fans.

How long is it going to be until he kills someone or hiself whilst he's at the wheel.

Mr Norris, should either step down a good few hundred horsepower or pay someone to race his cars, and lets be honest, his cheque book puts him in the seat of the car anyway, not talent.

Just my take, and the general take of the public on several car forums.
