o2 Sensor Help

Guys ,
I just noticed that my O2 sensor is`nt connected . And the grip is broken as well , so now i`ll have to go to my mechanic( who is quite far away) to have it fixed . Now i am not getting nay check lights or so . I wanna ask that , is it that much necessary to have the o2 sensor connected ? what am i missing performance wise ? any potential dangers ??

performance will be the same. it will overfuel on idle and cruising. you will get no engine lights if its not connected.

just get a crimp and join it together. dont mess about going miles to see a mechanic

oxygen sensor is located on the top end of the down pipe on a 4efte.

Oxygen sensor does most of its work helping the ecu achieve perfect air fuel ratio and complete combustion on light throttle and during idle situations.
it wont hurt the car or cause any lights to come on not having it plugged in or operating. but you will get an decrease in fuel economy.
