Before GTti comes here and makes people angry at him...Fully Sythetic because:
- More resistance to Shear
- Better Thermal Stability
- As a result of the above, better lubrication properties at higher temperatures
- Better oil flow due to uniform size of Oil Molecules

Umm, that's what I can remember...but yes...SEARCH

Running full synth on cars that don't use it normally can cause a lot of problems, according to my mate in Toyota (mechanic for number of years there now) Because it can clean out the inside of the engine, it can :

"dislodge all sorts of old gunk and grunge which is coated around your engine causing it to clog narrow oilways and lead to early destruction of the engine"

Amongst other things...

Fact of the matter is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it (or in this case, don't break it?), i personally use a semi synthetic 10-40, and wouldn't go fully synthetic UNLESS i had my engine rebuilt, and i knew what i mentioned couldn't happen because all parts of it were complete and working correctly...

That's a point, but Synthetic oil won't dislodge everything on it's own....use it over and over again, and it'll slowly clean the engine out, then it'll be safe to use an engine flush or something of the sort, otherwise, like with using fuel cleaners, you risk dislodge big clumps of carbon that could block some narrow passage in it's circulation

yup, fair point, i wasn't having a dig btw, i'm just very edgy about fully synth in my car and though i'd share my perspective :D
