Dudes,

Anyone built there own custom oil cooler kit?

Can you advise on what angle unions I require on the sandwich plate, remote filter housing and cooler?

Cheers.

Depends on where you want to mount it.

If you want it to be perfect. buy the cooler and relocation plates first. Put them where you want them, and then have a look at what kind of fittings and length of hose you need.

Im about to build my own actually. to me its all the same, just the quality of hoses gatta be good, the block off plate has to be the right size, a good built tank, just gatta make sure to get the right size fittings for the tank, relocator sandwich, thermostat, and the return.
speedvisions universal one is fine, you can even build your own ss lines if you find out the size fittings for it.

now i got the SS flex hose, AN fittings for hose and NPT to -AN connectors for block off plate and relocator sandwich, i got them from summitracing. now heres my question where does the themostat go? they way i see it the lines would go plate to filter, filter to thermostat, thermostat to cooler, return would be cooler to thermostat to block. or am i way off?

@gee
i got 15 foot -10an, im a yankee no metric, for the size of the hose. just get a measuring tape and guess and add about 3inches to it, then cut. im assuming your making your hoses. For the filter relocation angles it depends where you put it, if you put it in a place where you see the hose has to turn get a 45deg angle, if it turns alot get a 90deg angle. simple.

you would have to compare their stuff to quality stuff mate and the difference is noticable. the quality of materials is usually shite, as is the build quality. ive seen coolers from there where the cores have inflated like balloons.. cores cracking, threaded unions on top snapping off.. and the threads on the fittings dont seem very nice either. alot of stuff is made to look nice but quality and function are a different matter.

dont get me wrong you can get some bits that are half decent quality from china. but alot of it is utter shite to tell the truth.
