oil pressure

hi all,

just a quick query. my oil pressure seems to go low when the oil temp is hotter is this correct. normally about just under 20psi with an oil temp of over 90 degrees at idle can someone advise.

also

seems to be using alot of oil i.e top up once a week but done a compression test and there all around 160psi number 2 being slightly lower 157psi. no smoke what so ever. could worn bores still be the problem????

im wondering the same thing...

when i first start it up after it has been sitting and has cooled off...my oil pressure goes up to about 55ish at idle...but once im driving around and it gets hot...it barely stays at 20...i have to keep it down a gear to keep the pressure up...or is 18-20psi oil pressure driving around normal???

mine sits at 20psi when oil is hot at idle but is 50 plus when driving around, if yours stays at 20 ish when driving i would get that checked out

x2, i think it should be about 1.5 bar on idle when the engine is upto temperature.
Sounds like your pump could be on it's way out, or you have a blockage.

what would be somethings to check out?

just saw the last post...well when i take it apart to rebuild it...im replacing the oil pump...but ill check it out before hand..thanks!

first change the oil and fit a genuine filter, as that is the easiest thing to try 1st. then you need to drop the sump off and check the oil pickup is clear and the o ring is ok where it fits onto the block. also check the pressure relief is in gwo, make sure there is no crap in it and that the spring seems ok. change it if you suspect anything. finally check the oil pump.

low oil pressure can also be an indication of excessive bearing clearance. catch it early enough and you should be ok.
