Petrol Pressure Washer...

Had a cheapo washer for 6 months now, 1450psi Marksman thing, only £120.. For some reason tonight it stopped spraying with a high pressure.. Wandering if the hose is blocked maybe as the water from tap through the washer itself is still a good pressure but its as if it aint building it u for a 1450psi.. Ive noticed the little pressure spring isnt going up or down anymore..

Any ideas?

Unsure buddy, its a marksman 66101c 1450psi washer.. I aint touched it and its been working A1 for last 6 months so just wandeirng why the sudden stop..??

unfortunatly there are lot of pressure switches and alike inside the actual thing so if one of those are fooked it's not really worth fixing. Anyway like i said if it's got chemical mix it needs turning off. It will have a little pipe you would put in a bucket of chemical and if this is open it will be sucking in air instead stoping it from pressurising.

Try taking off the nozzle on the end of the lance and run some water through the machine as sometimes you get a bit of grit in the nozzle which kills the pressure.

Hey TRevor ive tried nother hose and same happens, also ran the machine off with water on from hose and its quite strong, so I am guessing sojething internally has fecked maybe?

ALso I have never turned any shampoo screws and it worked beofre so I know it aint that..

All pumps on pressure washers carries valves and seals which play a major role in maintaining output pressure. If the oil in the water pump looks milky, it means your seals are gone and water is getting into the pump (very bad), if you have minimal or no pressure it's your valves. Some units are servicible where you remove the bungs holding the valves and simply replace them with new ones (comet, cat, BEpressure etc. are like this) sadly many are not.

Cheers buddy.

The washer isnt a self suck washer, it needs a running tap to build the pressure, so could it have knackered the pump if it had been tried to suck from a barrel?? One of my friends done this with it whilst washing his bike somaybe its gave it too much pressure and totally fecked...

Can I get any use out of itin any ohter way now that it doesnt work as a pressure washer??

Surprisingly even the "commercial grade" washers need decent pressure from the pipe or they won't build pressure at the tip either (these are 3500-5000psi units). If the engine was running and there is no water flow to the pump, that would kill it alright. Trying to suck/syphon water from a barrel is a no no! Also leaving the engine running and not spraying for over 1 min causes the water temp in the pump to rise significantly. There is normally a release valve that lets the water out when this happens on most models but by that time the valves and seals have taken some damage. Hey at least you still have a working engine, make a go-cart or something and use that on it.
