hi ppl how do you work out what heat range spark plugs are needed

stock plugs for a 4efte are rated to a 6 heat rage (going from the ngk method of plug range). as are most factory turbo engines.

in a nutshell
the higher the boost pressure or compression and internal combustion temps the colder the plug you need to get.
it really depends on your own turbo set up as to what heat range will suit your vehicle most but a ruff guideline fir boost pressure imo would be

under 1 bar = 6 heat range
over one bar to 1.4bar = 7 heat range
over 1.4bar 8 heat range

that will also be affected by the above as to if you need a colder or hotter heat range than what i have described.

plug gap will also play a big part of it when it comes to big combustion pressures
